Dr. Mary Jean Koontz (MJ) is a distinguished real estate advisor with extensive expertise in both residential and commercial properties across the San Francisco Bay Area. With a comprehensive background in property investment, sales, environmental auditing, and financial analysis, MJ draws on her global business acumen to deliver sophisticated, high-impact advisory services tailored to the unique needs of both individual and corporate clients. As a trusted leader at Pacific West Advisory, she specializes in conducting in-depth portfolio analysis and crafting strategic, bespoke solutions to optimize real estate holdings and align with clients' financial and investment objectives.

With over eight years of experience in real estate, MJ's career also includes leadership roles as CEO of a market research firm, as well as an ed-tech company, and early work as a lobbyist.  Her expansive network across the Bay Area and internationally, enables her to assemble and lead the ideal team for each client’s needs. MJ holds a B.S., Foreign Service from Georgetown University, an MBA from the University of South Carolina, and a Ph.D. (Business Administration) from Golden Gate University. Fluent in Japanese and having lived and worked in Japan, Germany and Thailand, she brings a wealth of cross-cultural insight and negotiation skills to her global business.  In addition, MJ is committed to giving back, donating 3% of her commission on each transaction to the charity of her client’s choice.
